Verifying your email is a very important step in the process of getting your account setup with Handshake and is the first thing you will need to do. There are a number of reasons as to why we require this but the two most common are:
-) Security: This shows us (and the school's) that you have access to your account and can receive one of our emails
-) Delivery: Since there will be a lot of communication taking place via email from various users through Handshake, we want to make sure you can receive these and not miss out on anything important or let opportunities slip by.
If you are running into difficulties receiving the verification email, please look into the following:
- Check your spam and junk folders to ensure that emails are not being filtered out.
- Check with your IT department or Email Service Provider and ask them to whitelist Handshake or check for quarantined emails using this guide: https://documentation.joinhandshake.com/v1.0/docs/whitelisting-handshake-email
- Add firstname.lastname@example.org to your email contacts or address book.
Note: For any employers using a corporate email in a work setting that requires a lot of extra security, you will most likely need to reach out to your IT department. We will not be able to manually verify your email and force it through.
If you are still unable to receive it, please reach out to the Handshake Support Team and we will check the mail logs for you to ensure there are no complications showing up from our end.
