Helpful Tip: first check out our article (here) about registering for Handshake with a generic email address.
On Handshake, you are able to post personal type jobs. These types of jobs typically include roles such as babysitting, caretaker, tutoring, etc.
Please note that some institutions actually do create a specific company profile for users such as yourself to join, so we strongly recommend contacting Career Services first to learn about their best practices when posting these types of jobs.
If you'd like to proceed in creating a specific Employer account for your personal job(s), we do recommend creating an account with your personal email.
A Company Profile with a working website is required on Handshake when creating an employer account. Here's some helpful tips on how to proceed with this:
- For a company name, we see several users fill something like "LASTNAME Family".
- Since you wouldn't have a website for this type of job posting, you could potentially use your Facebook, LinkedIn, or any other social media profile as your website to bypass this required field.
The goal is to show the institution staff and students that you are a real person despite not having an "official" company, because you will need to be approved by the institution you're interested in posting your job to.
