If any student at your institution wants to participate in a virtual appointment, fair, or event hosted via integrated video on Handshake, and the addition of an ASL interpreter is needed, use the process below to request this service.
💡Note: you must determine your own ASL interpreter and instruct them to create a Handshake account. We recommend they register with a student account for the best experience!
With the transition to Daily as our new video provider, transcription is no longer supported at this time. Handshake intends to invest in this at some point, but currently there is no set timeline. We suggest using an external video platform if a transcriber is needed to type messages that should only be viewed by the student.
Timeline
Requests should be submitted to Handshake Support 2 weeks minimum in advance of the virtual interaction.
🚀Tip: if the planned virtual interaction is less than 2 weeks away, contact your Relationship Manager instead to expedite the request.
Request Process
Submit a new Support Ticket and include the following relevant information:
-

💡Note: the ID number is the number at the end of the web address when viewing the user's profile or the event/appointment.
Once your ticket has been submitted, our Support Team will work with engineering to add the ASL interpreter to the correct session(s).
