Pronouns on appointments
As of January 10, if a student has added pronouns to their profile, their pronouns are now displayed on the appointment show page for you to easily see at-a-glance.
Adding attachments on event details page
As of December 20, we re-added the ability for you to add attachments to events for students to download.
- Learn more about adding an attachment to an event here.
For students…
“Past year” filter on event discovery
As of December 19, we re-added the filter that allows students to see events and fairs that occurred in the past. They can also review events they attended in the last year and follow up with employers they met. This is live on web for all students and will be available on iOS in late January.
- Learn more about discovering events and fairs here.
For employers…
Salary transparency
As of January 12, Handshake is helping employers more easily comply with existing salary transparency legislation in the US and encouraging salary transparency across all jobs too. Employers recruiting for paid jobs in California, Colorado, New York, and Washington are now required to include a pay range. Employers posting paid jobs outside those regions are strongly encouraged to include pay information as well.
- Your team can see this salary data, filter on it from the Jobs page, and use it when setting up job auto-approval criteria.
- Students can see any salary data employers provide on job postings.
- Read a full synopsis of salary transparency updates here.
Employer validation
As of December 15, we have removed the employer trust score—it has been replaced with our new employer validation process, which comprehensively monitors the Handshake network for fraud.
- Learn more about employer validation here.
- Share this help article with employer partners if they have questions.
Coming soon
For career services...
Updating “from” field in Targeted Emails
Currently, targeted emails sent by your team to employers and students include “via joinhandshake.com” at the end of the “from” field. In the coming weeks, we will be updating the language from “via joinhandshake.com” to “via Handshake” for better standardization with other Handshake emails (ie. notification emails). If there are potential whitelisting implications with your institution, please communicate this update with your IT team.
Handshake video gallery view
In the coming weeks, students and employers attending virtual group sessions on Handshake will be able to see multiple people at one time in a gallery view, similar to Zoom or Google’s group video settings. Building out features like gallery view will improve user comfort with Handshake video as a whole and improve our ability to drive valuable live connections on the platform.
Displaying medium on appointment list page
On the appointment list page, we will soon display the medium for each appointment to make it easier for users to see at a glance whether upcoming appointments are virtual or in-person.
Formatting appointment messaging
We will soon add a new text editor tool for pre and post appointment messages that allows users to format with links, bullet points, numbered lists, underlines, and more.
For students...
Skills autocomplete
In the coming weeks, when a student enters a new skill on their profile, they will see auto-complete suggestions appear. Students are not required to select from the auto-complete suggestion list, but this update will help bring more structure to skills data over time.
For employers...
Job location
Later this month, we'll roll out updates to the job form allowing employers to indicate a job is in-person, hybrid, or remote. We'll also include a field where employers can indicate if a job is located at a residential address.
- A subsequent update will make this data visible to career services users.
