Signal boosting via employer collections (beta launch)
Signal boosting via employer collections allows your team to highlight employers with a special quality — like an alumni connection or DEI commitment — that's uniquely compelling to your students. Highlighted employers will be featured throughout the student experience, embedding your team’s expertise more deeply into Handshake. Signal boosting is currently live for partners participating in our beta launch program and will launch to all partners over the summer. Here are some recent updates we made to signal boosting for beta testers:
- Employer collections in analytics: New fields have been added to Analytics to make it easy to see which employers you’ve added to employer collections. US partners can click here to run a report showing your boosted employers.
- Targeted Emails content filters: A new filter has been added to make it easier to find events and jobs from boosted employers when adding Handshake content modules to an email.
Event form refresh (beta launch)
We updated the user interface of the event creation form and split out “virtual” as an event medium, instead of an event type. Additionally, the option to invite employers and other institutions to an event is included directly within the event creation form itself for a more seamless experience. The new event form is currently live for partners participating in our beta launch program and will launch to all partners in the coming weeks.

Employer tags
In the coming weeks, we’ll roll out new filters on the employers page that help your team identify employers you might like to review more closely for potential moral, ethical, or legal concerns—like being a cannabis company or third party recruiter. Tags will mirror decline reasons our partners are asked to select when declining an employer.
Appointment enhancements
In the coming weeks, we’ll add the option to customize a message shown to students when there are no available appointment slots. This will allow your team to direct students to relevant resources if they can’t schedule time with you. Furthermore, we’re adding support for hyperlinks in appointment comments to help you more easily share resources with students before or after appointments.
For students…
Event search
We just wrapped up the student event search experiment—a new search experience was available to 15% of students for the two weeks. Now, we’ll tweak the new experience and relaunch it for 100% of students later this summer. As a reminder, we conducted research earlier this spring to learn what matters most to students when searching for events and fairs. Learnings from that research informed this update, which splits out events with and without employers, helping students easily find relevant programming.

Event pages
Over the last few months, we’ve conducted research to learn about what matters most to students when searching for and attending events and fairs. In the coming weeks, we’re updating event pages to highlight information that’s most important to students, help them find alternative events if they can’t make the time, and display new event category tags (that your team and employers can select) that help students understand the event’s purpose.
