Custom event disclaimers
You can now configure a legal disclaimer that will be displayed to students on event registration pages if an employer is attending the event. Please note that your disclaimer will not be visible until the newly updated event registration page launches to students in a few weeks.
- Read about configuring a custom event disclaimer here.
Invoice regeneration
When your team generates an invoice for an employer on Handshake, the link employers click to download and pay the invoice is only available for a set amount of time for security purposes. Over the summer, we reduced the time an invoice is available from 6 months to 30 days. However, at the request of our partners (who often invoice employers months in advance of a career fair) we have reverted back to the original 6 month window.
Exact appointment time frames
Previously, an approximation of an appointment time frame was displayed on the appointment page. Now, the exact time frame for the appointment will be displayed by the minute or hour for full transparency and accuracy.

(Experiment) Employer collection “badge” and filter
We’re testing a “badge” on employer profiles and job postings indicating that the employer was added to an employer collection by your team, and a filter on the jobs page allowing your students to identify opportunities posted by employers in collections. Both are visible to 50% of students.
- Read about the employer collection badge and filters here.
Video self-diagnostic
Students can now test their video, audio, and connection at a virtual fair without any assistance from your team. Note that students will be redirected to Twilio’s website to run these diagnostic tests and be asked to provide their email address for security purposes.
- Learn how students can test their video during virtual fairs here.

Employer validation
We’ve implemented our new employer validation process. To ensure a smooth rollout, employer validation data points will slowly be incorporated into the employer Trust Score starting in mid-October. As employer validation is being incorporated, you can expect to see most employers' Trust Score rise. Then, after the busy back to school season, we’ll remove the Trust Score.

- Share this help article with employer partners if they have questions.

Events featuring alumni
We’re adding new fields to the event creation form to allow your team to share alumni speaker details (like grad year, major, current employer, and more)—students will see those details on the new event registration page.
Event character limits
We’re introducing a limit of 85 characters for event titles and 1500 characters for event descriptions. This also applies to events created by employers. This change will ensure that event information remains easily digestible for students, especially when browsing Handshake on a mobile device.

Messaging students
As we work to replace the Trust Score with Handshake’s new employer validation process, we’re changing the way employers gain permission to send messages to students. To date, employers have needed a Trust Score of 80 or above to send messages. In the coming weeks, employers will instead need at least one approved job at an institution in order to message that institution’s students. Note: Handshake's employer validation process monitors employer messages for signs of malicious activity.

(Experiment) Remote filter in job search
In the coming weeks, we’ll test a new filter on the job search page that help students quickly find remote opportunities.
Event discovery page
We have incorporated partner feedback into the new student event discovery experience, which includes 1) increasing visibility of events/fairs hosted by career services 2) making it easier for students to find all types of events/fairs 3) improved event relevancy. We plan to start rolling this out to a subset of students in early November.
Event registration page
We’ve updated this page to provide more contextually relevant information like details of featured alumni in attendance, similar event suggestions, and new event categories to help students better understand the purpose of an event. Note: the updated page will hide comments from students. The updated event registration page will roll out to a subset of students in early November.
