If you encounter an error that says "You do not have permission to do that", this indicates you do not have the necessary permission to access the particular page or complete the task in Handshake.
Note: While the error and the root cause is the same across all user types, the implications or necessary steps to resolve the error vary, depending on the user type and circumstances. Refer to the following links for career services-related and student-related workflows.
For Employers, this error could appear if you're:
- using a link for a fair that is invite-only, but the link isn't the tokenized version required
- Followup with the school hosting the fair to request the tokenized fair link!
- using a link for an event that your company has not been added to
- Followup with the school hosting the event to request to be added to the event!
- attempting to create a virtual fair schedule as the Schedule Owner, but your role is not set to Recruiter, Representative, or Owner
- To resolve this problem, you can take one of the following actions:
- Reach out to your company Owner to have your role updated to Recruiter or Representative
- Reach out to the school hosting the fair to have them designate a different Schedule Owner

Note: the situations listed are the most common examples, however, there may be others that result in this error as well. The root cause remains the same––the item is restricted from your user's view.
