Running Reports Example 1

Step 1

  1. Click Reports on the left hand navigation bar
  2. Click Explore Insights from the tabs at the top of the screen
  3. Select the Students Explore
  4. Select School Year as your dimension from the choices on the left
  5. Select Run at the top of the screen to run this school year name report
  6. You should see the unique school year names at your institution. Examples: Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior, etc.)

 

Step 2

  1. Leave the school year dimension selected
  2. Click Count under the Student view
  3. You will see the count of students for each school year displayed
  4. Note: If you are interested in visualizing this in a bar graph click Visualization towards the top of the screen

 

Note: If any students in your Handshake site do not have a school year tied to their account you will see a null value listed. Notice the null value that was returned in column 9 of the report above. It can be helpful to pull null data when you are looking for students missing majors, it can also be helpful to exclude null values.

 

To see all null values or no null values follow these steps: 

  1. Click Filter next to the School Year Name dimension
  2. From the filter options choose Is Null or Is Not Null
