Learning a new platform can often be difficult and overwhelming. At Handshake, we strive to make using Handshake as user-friendly, yet effective, as possible. With that said, here are some training videos that you can view to understand the essential features within Handshake that you might be using on a day-to-day basis.
Please note that some of these videos are our older training videos, and for updated content, please refer to Handshake Academy! The links below are being migrated to Handshake Academy as the content is created, so please note the title of the link for clarity. Set-up & Configuration Training Videos:
Handshake Academy: Implementation: In this course, we'll go over the essential aspects of preparing to launch Handshake. The course contains valuable material designed to help you set up your account, formulate your work flows and get connected with students & employers. We'll also discuss ideas for maximizing engagement through key feature adoption.
Handshake Academy: Accessing Handshake & Creating Accounts: In this course, you'll learn about:
- Accessing and setting up your Handshake account
- Setting up and inviting members of your team to use Handshake
- Creating employer and student accounts associated with your Career Services account
- Understanding the permissions & roles available in Handshake
Who should take this course?
- This will be particularly relevant for the campus administrator or the Handshake Point of Contact, as they will need to have the ability to create accounts for others on campus and determine the level of access they will have in the platform.
Handshake Academy: Importer Training: Introduction to Importer, how to gain access to the tool, creating and uploading a file to the Importer, and reviewing errors in uploaded files. Complete this training before you request for access to the Importer. In this course, you'll learn about:
- What is the importer tool?
- Gaining access to the importer tool.
- Creating & uploading an importer file.
- Reviewing errors & downloading failed rows.
Handshake Academy: School settings & marketing materials: In this course, you'll learn about:
- The details tab of your school settings
- The Handshake Marketing Toolkit
- Branding for your school/career center page
- Setting up payment options
Handshake Academy: Two Way Calendar Sync: Introduction to Two Way Calendar Sync feature. Integrate your school’s calendar with Handshake’s calendar to keep appointments up-to-date on your calendar.
Reporting Overview: This course will walk you through how to access Handshake's reporting features and a high-level overview of how to access and use them.

Employer Features Training Videos:
Handshake Academy: Managing Employer Contacts: Creating and formatting Contact file, review Contacts tab, and Employer Approval Preferences.. This is a crucial step in inviting your Employers to connect with you on Handshake.
Handshake Academy: On Campus Employment Options & Set-up: Review best practices and workflows for on-campus employment and discuss Company vs Divisions model setup. This will assist you in understanding which model your school needs to manage on-campus employment.
Handshake Academy: Trust & safety overview: This walks you through understanding how employers are validated on Handshake.
Posting a Job from Employer View: This walks you through the process that an employer goes through to post a position on Handshake.
Editing a Job Posting: Review options to edit job postings and duplicate a job posting.
