Please note: Premium features are for Handshake Premium accounts only. For more information, please check out this resource.
If you are not presently a Handshake Premium partner, refer to Employer Roles & Admin Tools!
How to Configure New Roles
1. As a Company Owner or Administrator, click on your name in the upper-right corner of Handshake, then click on Teammates.
2. Locate the user you'd like to update, then click the three dots menu to the far right in the row and click Edit user.
3. Locate Role on the page, below Bio, and click the dropdown to select the Role-Type you’d like for each user.
4. Click the green Update User button in the lower-right of the page to save changes.
What does each Role do?
Below you’ll find more detailed explanations for each role, and the specific permissions they have.
Account Owner
There is only a single Owner for every Handshake Account. The only difference between Owners and Admins is that Owners can deactivate Admins.
*No change with a Premium seat.
Admins
Handshake Admins can do everything Recruiters, Hiring Managers, and Ambassadors can - but they also have advanced Account Permissions, like the ability to:
- Approve or decline new users
- Deactivate (non-Admin) users
- Edit user accounts
- Edit the Company Page brand
With a Premium seat, Admins gain the following access:
- Access monthly analytics reports
- Configure account roles
- Configure global employer settings
Recruiter
Recruiters are the most common account type in Handshake. They can do all of the standard recruiting activities you’d expect in Handshake, like:
- Request School Access
- Post and manage Jobs
- Request and manage Interviews
- Review and message Job & Interview applicants
- Request and manage Events
- Register for Career Fairs
- Review and message Event & Career Fair RSVPs
- If they have a Premium Seat - they can also run Campaigns, create Segments, and review Results
- Access Talent Analytics (more information here)
With a Premium seat, Recruiters gain the following access:
- Run Campaigns
- Create Segments
- Review Results
- Create School Lists
- Search for schools with advance student criteria (School explorer Only)
Hiring Manager
Hiring Managers can review Job & Interview applications, launch Check-in Kiosks, and review Event & Career Fair RSVPs. But they can’t:
- Request School Access
- Post Jobs / Interviews
- Request Events / Fairs
Think of it as ‘read-only’ rights to things typical Hiring Managers need to do - from on-campus event involvement, to reviewing and managing applications.
*No change with a Premium seat.
Ambassador
Note: From the Teammates page directory, click the three dots menu to the far right of the Ambassador's name, then click Set to public, so that students may view the Ambassador's profile!
Ambassadors can be tagged in Campaigns, message students, launch Check-in Kiosks, and review Event & Career Fair RSVPs. But they can’t:
- Request School Access
- Post Jobs / Interviews
- Request Events / Fairs
- Review Job & Interview Applicants
- Edit Brand Page Content
Think of it as ‘read-only’ rights to all things event related; they can help you with candidate engagement, but they can’t do anything else or see any personal data like a student’s application.
With a Premium seat (not included in the Talent Engagement Suite), Ambassadors gain the following access:
- Advanced Student Search Filters
- Bulk Message Students from the “Search Students” tab (100 per send)
Representative
Representatives can participate in virtual fairs, launch Check-in Kiosks, and review Event & Career Fair RSVPs (where they can take notes & add labels to candidates). But they can’t:
- Request School Access
- Post Jobs / Interviews
- Request Events / Fairs
- Review Job & Interview Applicants
- Be tagged in Campaigns
- Send Messages
- View student profiles
- Note: If a Representative is hosting virtual fair sessions, they will be able to view student profiles for students that signed up for sessions at that fair. They can also view RSVPs and download public resumes of those signed up students.
- Edit Brand Page Content
*No change with a Premium seat.
Student Ambassador
Note: From the Teammates page directory, click the three dots menu to the far right of the Ambassador's name, then click Set to public, so that students may view the Ambassador's profile!
Student Ambassadors can participate in virtual fairs and message students that attended sessions through 1-1 messaging. With the additional packages below come the subsequent increased access:
- Premium TES: Get tagged in Campaigns
- Premium Events Module (VEM): Get added & participate in Virtual Employer-hosted Schedules & Virtual Events
*No change with a Premium seat.
Premium Access for Hiring Managers & Ambassadors
If Hiring Managers and Ambassadors have a Premium Seat they still won’t be able to access the tools for scaled outreach (like Segments & Campaigns) - but they can see Advanced Student Search Filters, and Message Students from the “Search Students” tab.
