The Student Career center page is the student's central location for accessing career resources and opportunities provided by their institution. This article explains the information and features that may appear on the page.
Note: The options and content available to each student depend on the institution's configuration.
How do students access the Career Center page?
Students click Career center in the left navigation menu to open the page.
Where does the career center's branding appear?
The page header displays the career center's configured name, logo, and banner image. For information about updating these elements, refer to Editing a Career Center Branding Page.
What shortcuts are available on the Career Center page?
Near the top of the page, students find shortcut cards for the following features:
- Appointments: Schedule time to meet with experts and build a career.
- Resources: Read curated content from the career center.
- Experiences: Track internship or co-op experiences.
- Surveys: Answer questions from the career center.
- Collections: Explore jobs, events, and more curated by the career center.
What are Career center collections?
Career Center Collections are groups of curated content that career services creates and organizes for students to explore, such as targeted job postings, featured employers, events, and career fairs. On the page, this section is labeled with the institution's name, for example "Handshake collections."
Students select a collection to explore its content. To browse everything available, they click View all collections.
How do students view upcoming career fairs?
The Upcoming Career Fairs section shows fairs that are available to the student. Each fair displays its name, date, time, location, and a short description. Students select a fair to view full details and registration information, or click the star icon to save it for later.
How do students view upcoming events?
The Upcoming Events section shows events available to the student, such as workshops and orientation sessions. Each event displays its name, hosting department or organization, date, time, location (or "No location" if none is set), and a short description. Students click the star icon to save an event for later.
What information appears on the right side of the page?
The right side of the page may display the following:
- Contact Information: The institution's website, phone number, email address, and career center location.
- About: A description of the career center provided by the institution. If the institution has not added one, this area notes that no description was provided.
- Schedule Appointment: A shortcut for requesting an appointment, when appointment scheduling is available.
- Public Staff List: Up to five staff members who have made their profiles available to students. Students select a staff member to view their profile, or click View All Public Staff to access the complete list.
