Handshake Plus offers flexible billing options to fit your hiring needs. This article explains how billing works for both the daily and monthly plans, and what to expect whether you're just getting started or managing an existing upgrade.
If you are currently a Handshake Plus subscriber, be aware that Handshake Plus is no longer available to new users as of April 2026. Your existing plan will remain active until you cancel.
As a Plus subscriber, you may notice the following in your account:
- "Basic" appears in the upper-left corner of your screen
- Your Plan & Billing page shows "Handshake Basic with Promoted"
To learn about your options going forward, visit Promote a Job or Upgrading to Handshake Pro.
To manage or cancel your Plus subscription, refer to Manage your Plus Subscription.
Billing options
Plus daily
- Charged per day, per upgraded job
- Billed in 7-day billing cycles, which appear as "Billed weekly" on your Plan & Billing page
- You can downgrade at any time; billing stops at the end of your current cycle
- This is the default option shown during the upgrade process
Plus monthly
Charged monthly per upgraded job
Billed each month on the same date you first upgraded to Plus
Downgrading early ends your subscription on your next billing date; you’ll continue to receive benefits until then
Pricing for Handshake Plus may vary slightly depending on the type of job you're upgrading. You’ll always see the exact daily or monthly price during checkout before confirming your upgrade.
Tip: We recommend reviewing this carefully to ensure it aligns with your expectations before completing the upgrade.
Canceling a daily subscription
If you cancel your daily subscription before the 7 day billing cycle ends, you will only be charged for the number of days your job remained upgraded.
Charges accrue each day during the cycle, and the total posts on the final day of the 7 day period.
Example
If your job is upgraded for 3 days and you cancel before the cycle ends, you will only be billed for those 3 days. The total charge will appear on the final day of your 7 day billing cycle.
Canceling a monthly subscription
If you downgrade your monthly subscription before your next billing date, your subscription remains active through the end of the current billing cycle. You will not be billed again once the next monthly date arrives.
Example
If your billing date is the 10th of each month and you downgrade on the 20th, your subscription stays active until the next billing date. No additional charges will be billed after that date.
How Plus charges are processed
All Handshake Plus charges are processed through your selected payment method (typically a credit or debit card).
To review your charges, check your credit card or bank statements alongside your Handshake billing history, which includes past invoices and payment details.
What to expect after downgrading
Handshake Plus charges are based on usage while a job or slot is upgraded. Charges may appear on your statement after you downgrade to Basic because billing is processed at the end of the billing cycle.
Downgrading stops future charges, but it does not remove charges that were already incurred while Plus was active.
Accessing billing records and invoices
Handshake does not send invoices via email. Billing history can be accessed through the Stripe portal, which includes:
Past invoices
Current payment methods
Upcoming charges
We recommend periodically reviewing your credit card statements to verify Handshake billing activity.
For step-by-step instructions to access your billing history through Stripe, refer to Manage your Plus Subscription.
