Handshake introduced a new, enhanced homepage for students and alumni in February 2020!
The new student homepage introduces featured links and quick descriptions for commonly used features in Handshake at the top of the screen - their increased prominence aims to help you more quickly identify where you need to go, plus show off the range of tools Handshake has to offer. The rightmost link leads you directly to your school's profile page and features your school’s logo.
How will the collections be ordered?
Collections will be dynamically ordered based on student engagement. We want to make it as easy as possible for students to get to the collections they engage with most as soon as possible.
What collections will show up?
All the existing collections on the current homepage will be in the new design. That includes editorial collections, jobs popular in student’s major, and recommendation collections.
If your school has a “Jobs Recommended by Your Career Center” collection, then that collection will show up as well within the first 10 collections on the page.
In addition, two new job collections will be added, “Jobs Expiring Soon” and “Be the First to Apply - Jobs with few applications.” We’ll also be introducing collections for reviews and Questions & Answers (Q&A).
If students have more than one major, what is "Popular in Your Major" based on?
When students have more than one major, the suggested jobs will be based on either the primary major selected, or if no primary major is designated, they will be based on the first major listed.
What is "Jobs Expiring Soon" Collection?
“Jobs Expiring Soon” are job postings that are expiring within 2 weeks. The collection will be sorted to show the jobs that fit the student’s interests such as location preferences first.
What is "Be the First to Apply" Collection?
“Be the First to Apply” are job postings with less than 5 applications submitted. The collection will be sorted by jobs that fit the student’s interests such as location preferences first.
What are Reviews on the homepage?
The reviews will be a collection of reviews of companies a student might like. We may use signals including demographic attributes like major or school year, and behavioral data such as companies students view to help show Q&A that are relevant to the students.
What is Q&A on the homepage?
The Q&A will be a collection of Q&A based on the questions a student might be interested in. We may use signals including demographic attributes like major or school year, and behavioral data such as companies students view to help show Q&A that are relevant to the students.
What is "Suggested by your career center" on the homepage?
What is "Explore Career Paths"?
This section will allow you to discover students like you across the Handshake network. You will only be able to see the "Message" option if your privacy is set to Community. You can read more about your privacy options here.
