When you need help with Career Services account access, permissions, or settings in Handshake, your institution's Handshake administrator or career center team is often the right contact.
Your institution manages many aspects of Career Services access, permissions, and settings in Handshake.
Depending on how your institution manages Handshake, the appropriate contact may be your Handshake administrator, career center director, or another member of your team with the required permissions.
Note: This article covers requests related to account access, permissions, and Handshake Support. For help with strategic planning, student engagement, or platform best practices, contact your Relationship Manager.
When should I contact someone at my institution?
Contact your institution's Handshake administrator or career center team for help with the following requests.
Create a Career Services account Career Services accounts cannot be created through self-registration. Contact your institution's Handshake administrator or career center team to request an account.
Confirm the email address associated with your account If you cannot log in or are unsure which email address is associated with your Career Services account, ask your institution's Handshake administrator or career center team to confirm it.
Reactivate a deactivated account If your Career Services account was deactivated, contact a team member with permission to manage staff accounts to request reactivation.
Request additional roles or permissions Contact a team member with permission to manage staff roles if you need additional access. This may include permissions to:
- Manage staff
- Manage your institution's school page
- Manage single sign-on settings
- Access sensitive student data
- Manage other institution-level features or settings
Your institution determines which roles and permissions each Career Services user should have.
Become a Handshake Point of Contact A Handshake administrator is a campus user with administrative permissions. A Handshake Point of Contact is a user designated to receive communications from Handshake; this role does not necessarily mean they are an administrator.
If you need to be added as a Handshake Point of Contact and cannot manage staff roles, contact a team member with the appropriate permissions
Update institution information or settings Some institution-level information and settings can only be updated by users with specific permissions. If you cannot make a necessary change, contact your institution's Handshake administrator or another team member with the appropriate access.
When should I contact Handshake Support?
Contact Handshake Support for general troubleshooting with any Handshake feature, or if your institution's Handshake administrator or career center team cannot resolve the issue. Examples may include:
- An account invitation email was not received after your team confirmed the email address
- A Career Services account needs to be permanently deleted
- You need help setting up or troubleshooting single sign-on
- A calendar integration remains blocked after your institution reviews its settings
- You need access to or support with the Importer tool
- Student accounts need to be merged, transferred, permanently deleted, or reviewed as duplicates
- An on-campus employer management task cannot be completed by your institution
- Your career center team cannot identify your institution's Handshake administrator or Point of Contact
