The original data dictionary, transcribed into Handshake Analytics, will also be available in Insights! This work is in-progress, but we hope to have it live at a later date.
While the work to add definitions directly in Handshake's Insights is in-progress, we recommend you to use our original sheet to reference definitions here: Handshake Insights Data Dictionary. Our teams reviewed the definitions and confirmed these are accurate for Insights and Analytics!
- With this transition we are including a new dimension for New Analytics. Any section that includes a timestamp (e.g. Created at Date) has a dimension titled "Raw". This dimension will include the date and time, down to the millisecond. The specific format: Date: YYYY/MM/DD HH:MM:SS:MS
As a reminder, within Analytics, there are two values available in reporting:
Dimensions - What data do I want? Dimensions are the column descriptors of your table.
Measures - What do I want to do with my data? Measures are the math on top of your data.
Within both Dimensions and Measures are specific fields, which you can use to either filter your results or include in the report as a column.
In Analytics, next to each field name, hover your mouse pointer over the "i" to the right of the name to see the definition.
Here's an example:
Our field definitions in Handshake were made possible by Nathan Hunsaker, Associate Director for Technology & Data, and Saahithi Budharaju, Data & Analytics Assistant at University of Virginia.
Many thanks for all of their hard work and willingness to share the original data dictionary with us, so our team could transcribe this in Handshake and make it more accessible for all of our users!
