Default Notification Preferences (Students)

When a student account is created in Handshake, some notifications are enabled by default. This is to make sure key information isn't missed!

If you'd like to change the default notification settings, you may do so at any time! Refer to Managing Your Notification Preferences for more information.

Below is a full list of all optional notifications for each section in Handshake, with screenshot examples below each table.

  • Active: Settings marked with an "X" in the table are active for all new student accounts by default.
    • These are indicated in the screenshot examples by a green checkmark.
  • Inactive: Settings left blank in the table and screenshot. These may be checked/unchecked in Handshake at any time.
  • Not available: Settings with "N/A" in the table are not available at this time.
    • These are indicated in the screenshot examples as a red circle with a slash in the middle.
