Regardless of why you need to reset your Handshake password, you can do so whenever you'd like! Maybe you've forgotten it or maybe you'd like to update it – either way, Handshake supports this change.
1. Go to https://app.joinhandshake.co.uk/login
- If you're routed to your institution's single sign-on page, click the blue link Or log in using your Handshake credentials, located below your institution's login.
- If you're routed to Handshake's login page, click on the dropdown located below the Students & Alumni section, then select your institution, and click the blue button Next.
2. Enter the email address connected to your Handshake account, then click the blue button Next.
3. Click the blue link Forgot your password?
4. Enter the email address associated with your Handshake account, then click the blue button Reset Password.
5. The page will refresh with a confirmation message that reads "Almost there! Please check your email to set your password."
6. Go to your inbox and open the email, then click the blue link Reset My Password.

Body: "Hello Rocky,
We have received your password reset request.
Please click the following link to reset your password: Reset My Password
If you did not request a password reset, please disregard this email.

7. You'll be redirected to Handshake to reset your password. Choose a new password and enter it once in each field, then click the blue button Reset.
💡Note: Passwords on Handshake must:
- Contain eight characters, or more

Contain characters from two of the following three character classes:
- Alphabetic (e.g., a-z, A-Z)
- Numeric (i.e. 0–9)
- Punctuation and other characters (e.g.,!@#$%^&*()_+|~-=\`{}[]:";'<>?,./)
- Important: passwords are not encrypted.
8. The page will refresh with a confirmation message that reads "Success. Your password has been successfully changed. Click below to sign in. Click the blue button Sign In to sign in with your new password.
Once your password is updated, you'll receive an email notification to confirm that your password has recently been changed. You'll now be able to log into Handshake using your newly created password!
Not receiving your password reset email?
If the password reset email isn't showing up for you, we recommend to take the steps below:
- Check your spam and junk mail. Since this is an automated email, some providers may filter the message from your inbox. If you're using a common mail client, you can find instructions below.
- Keyword search all mailboxes using "Email Confirmation" (the email's subject line). This can better surface the email if it's been filtered to an unexpected location.

Add Handshake to your address book with the following contact email: "handshake@m.joinhandshake.co.uk". After adding this contact, resend the confirmation email from Handshake (Step 3 on the thanks for signing up page).
- This will help ensure delivery of future emails, and is important for keeping you up to date in your professional life.
- Contact your institution's IT department and ask if they know of any reasons emails from Handshake would be denied.
After taking each of the steps above, submit a ticket to Handshake Support. We'll work with you to get the email delivered.
Best Practice: when submitting a ticket, include a summary of the steps you've taken so far! This will save time and result in a more efficient interaction!
