To promote more meaningful, intentional interactions with students, Handshake enforces limits on employer messaging. There are two types of limits:
Time-based limits
Per-send limits
These limits apply to all employer messages, though the exact thresholds vary by account type. For Premium partners, limits are further based on the partnership your company has with Handshake.
Employers can send messages to students individually or in bulk.
Only Premium partners have access to send messages through campaigns.
Time-based limit
A time-based limit refers to the message limit allocated within a single period, which can be used collectively by all teammates connected to your company profile.
This limit is monthly and applies to all types of messages (individual/bulk messages and campaigns).
Employers can use all of their messages at once, or throughout the month.
Per-send
Per-send refers to the number of recipients selected for bulk messages and campaigns.

Bulk messages
- Messages are sent to candidates you manually select from areas where they appear, such as the Matches tab.
- Premium partners can send bulk messages to up to 500 recipients at a time. Basic accounts are limited to 10 messages per month. In these cases, the monthly limit overrides the per-send limit.

Campaigns
- Large-scale outreach targeting a wide range of students based on a segment.
- All campaigns can reach a maximum audience of 5000 recipients.

Note: All message limits refresh on the 1st of the month at midnight PST.

Basic (free)
Limit: 10 messages per month (shared across all users in the account)
Plus
Limit: 200 messages per month (shared across all users in the account)
Talent Essentials
Premium (paid) roles: Owner, Admin, Recruiter-Sourcer, Recruiter-Advanced, Advocate
200 messages per month per premium seat (not shared)
1 campaign per month (refreshes monthly)
Campaign reach: up to 5,000 candidates
Basic (unpaid) roles: Representative, Recruiter-Standard
25 messages per month shared across the employer account

Talent Engagement Suite

Unlimited messaging
No daily limit (send all at once or spread throughout the month)

Message count
Messages count toward your monthly limit only if:
You proactively message a student who has not replied to your message.
Messages do not count toward the limit if the student:
Applied to your job posting.
RSVP’d to or attended your event or career fair.
Scheduled an on-campus interview or meeting with you.
Initiated the conversation.
Replied to your message.
Deleted their Handshake account after receiving your message. In this case, the message credit will be returned and available to reuse within the same month.
