How to Change Your Student Profile Privacy Setting

On Handshake, you can adjust your profile privacy settings at any time. You have the option to make your profile visible to just employers, or to both employers and other students on the platform

Change profile's privacy setting

1. Click your account icon in the upper-right corner of the screen, then click Settings from the dropdown menu.

2. Select Privacy.

3. Click the radio button next to the desired option: Community (public), Employers, or Private.

Tip: to make your profile public and shareable outside of Handshake, check the box next to "Make profile public and shareable outside of Handshake", located below the Community option. 4. Once selected, click the Save changes button to update!

💡Note: your profile is not viewable to employers that haven't been approved by your institution or anyone without a Handshake account.

 

 

Other areas to update private settings

For your convenience, Handshake offers other areas on the platform to update your profile privacy settings.  This includes signing up for a virtual fair session or virtual event.

If your profile is set to private, you'll receive a prompt This prompt includes the following message:

"In order to participate in a virtual [career fair/event] on Handshake, you will need to change your visibility."

Within the prompt, your current profile visibility is displayed along with the required options to attend. Select the desired option, then click Update to save!
