Handshake has different minimum age requirements depending on the type of account you're creating. Use the table below to find the requirement that applies to you.
Student account affiliated with a school (Age 16+)
To create a student account on Handshake, you must be at least 16 years old.
If you are under 16, a parent or legal guardian must complete Handshake's consent form and submit it by reaching out to our Support team.
Individual account not affiliated with a school (Age 18+)
An individual student account is for users who are not affiliated with a school on Handshake (i.e., you're not signing up as a current student or alum through a school partnership).
To create an Individual account, you must be at least 18 years old. There is no consent form option for individual student accounts not affiliated with a school — users under 18 are not eligible to create this account type.
