What is the Student Engagement Insights dashboard?

The Student Activity dashboard in Insights can help you take a closer look at the factors that affect the numbers you're seeing in the homepage dashboard. 

To navigate to the dashboard:

  1. Select the Analytics option in the left navigation bar
  2. Select the Student Engagement dashboard:
  3. You have the option to filter on College in order to narrow down your results to identify key groups of students
  4. Additionally, the dashboard includes peer group comparison which is based on your school rank and Handshake implementation year. We are not able to share your peer schools at this time. 

Definitions

  • Undergraduate: students with the school year of Freshman, Sophmore, Junior or Senior
  • Alumni: students with a school year of Alumni
  • Graduate: students with a school year of Masters, Doctorate or Postdoctoral Studies

 

What do these numbers mean?

Student Activations

  • Activated: count of unique students that have logged into Handshake
  • Unactivated: count of unique students that have not logged into Handshake
  • Activation Rate: the percentage is calculated by the unique count of students that have logged into Handshake divided by the total count of students at your school in Handshake
  • Peers Activation Rate: average activation percentage of Handshake schools with a similar rank and Handshake implementation date
  • vs Peers: the difference between your school's activation rate and your peer schools activation rate

 

Weekly Logins

  • Active last week: count of unique students that have logged into Handshake in the last 7 days
  • Not active last week: count of unique students that have logged into Handshake but not logged into Handshake in the last 7 days (hint: active last week + not active last week = total active students)
  • Weekly Active Rate: this percentage is calculated by the count of students at your school that have logged in to Handshake in the last 7 days divided by the count of students that have ever logged into Handshake
  • Peers Weekly Active Rate: average weekly activation percentage of Handshake schools with a similar rank and Handshake implementation date
  • Difference: the difference between your school's weekly activation rate and your peer schools weekly activation rate

 

Profile Completion

  • Complete Profiles: count of unique students with at least one work experience, organization and skill
  • Incomplete Profiles: count of unique students that have logged into handshake but do not have at least one work experience, organization and skill added to their profile
  • Profile completion rate: this percentage is calculated by the count of students with complete profiles divided by the count of activated students at your school
  • Peers Profile Completion Rate: average profile completion percentage of Handshake schools with a similar rank and Handshake implementation date
  • Difference: the difference between your school's profile completion rate and your peer schools weekly activation rate

 

Mobile App Activation

  • Activated Mobile Users: count of students that have downloaded and logged into the mobile app
  • Non-activated Mobile Users: count of activated students that have not downloaded the mobile app
  • Mobile Activated Rate: this percentage is calculated by the count of students with complete profiles divided by the count of activated students at your school
  • Peers Mobile Activated Rate: average mobile activated rate of Handshake schools with a similar rank and Handshake implementation date
  • Difference: the difference between your school's mobile activated rate and your peer schools mobile activated rate

Public Profiles

  • Public Profiles: count of students that have made their profiles public to employers
  • Non-public Profiles Users: count of activated students that have not made their profiles public to employers
  • Public Profile Rate: this percentage is calculated by the count of students with profiles that are public to employers divided by the count of activated students at your school
  • Peers Public Profile Rate: average public profile rate of Handshake schools with a similar rank and Handshake implementation date
  • Difference: the difference between your school's public profile rate and your peer schools public profile rate

Campus Profiles

  • Count Campus Profiles: count of students that have made their profiles public to other students
  • Count Not with Campus Profiles: count of activated students that have not made their profiles public to other students
  • Campus Profile Rate: this percentage is calculated by the count of students with profiles that are public to other students divided by the count of activated students at your school
  • Peers Campus Profile Rate: average campus profile rate of Handshake schools with a similar rank and Handshake implementation date
  • Difference: the difference between your school's campus profile rate and your peer schools campus profile rate
