To continue to democratize access to information, we provide each company access to enable or disable SEO for their company profile, which allows employer pages, Q&A, and reviews submitted in Handshake to be visible outside Handshake.
Background
We’ve learned through our user research that students primarily use Google to search for and find career advice and opportunities, which is why we are improving the ability for students to find these pages visible through search.
To protect students' privacy, their profile pictures, names, and schools will be hidden on external pages- only a student's most recent work experience and school year will be visible outside of Handshake.
Manage your company's SEO settings
In Handshake, only the owner or admin of a company profile can control the visibility of their company information. They can choose to keep their company information private or make their employer profile publicly accessible. Check out A Guide to Employer Role Types in Handshake.
1. To begin, click on your name in the upper-right corner of any page, then select Company Settings from the dropdown.
2. In the left menu, select Global Settings, then uncheck the option for Allow public pages (SEO) in the Other preferences section.
3. When you are finished, click the black button Save.
Public pages
Below, we provide an example of how your company profile will display as a public searchable page.
