This article is for U.S.-based fellows who plan to travel outside the U.S. while working on Handshake AI projects. It explains when you need approval to work from abroad.These guidelines are in place to protect fellows, ensure data security, and meet legal and compliance requirements. They apply to all Handshake AI contractors performing paid annotation, evaluation, or task-based work.
Can I work on a project while I'm outside the U.S.?
Project work must be completed from within the United States and its territories. If you plan to work while outside the U.S., you must receive written approval in advance.
To request approval, contact support before you travel. Work completed outside the U.S. without prior written approval may not be accepted.
Can I use a VPN or remote desktop to work from outside the U.S.?
No. VPNs, proxies, remote desktop tools, and any other location-masking tools are not permitted when accessing Handshake AI.
I live outside the U.S. Can I participate?
