The Handshake AI Slack workspace is where your team communicates, gets project updates, and requests support. This article explains how to join the workspace, find your channels, and resolve common access issues.
Before you start
- Use the email address associated with your Handshake AI account when signing into Slack.
- If you previously joined an older Handshake AI Slack workspace, sign out of that workspace before joining the current one.
How to join the Handshake AI Slack workspace
Step 1: Find your invite email
- Check your inbox for an email with the subject: "Handshake AI has invited you to work with them in Slack."
- Open the email and follow the prompts to join.
Step 2: Access Slack directly if you did not receive the invite
- In a browser, go to: https://handshakeai.enterprise.slack.com/
- Sign in when prompted.
- If Slack opens an old workspace instead, sign out of that workspace (or remove it from your Slack sidebar) and try again.
Step 3: Sign in on the desktop or mobile app
- Download the Slack desktop app (Mac or Windows) or the mobile app (iOS or Android).
- On the sign-in screen, select Sign in to another workspace if the Handshake AI workspace does not appear.
- Enter the email address associated with your Handshake AI account.
How to navigate the Handshake AI Slack workspace
Find your way around
- Workspace switcher (top left): switch between workspaces if you belong to more than one.
- Sidebar: access your channels, direct messages, and apps.
- Search bar: the fastest way to find past answers and pinned posts.
Understand your channels
You will be added to channels based on your project role. Each project typically uses three channels:
- #projectname-announcements: where the Handshake AI team posts important updates. You will not be able to post in this channel.
- #projectname-tasking: where the project team shares day-to-day work information and task updates. You can post and ask questions in this channel.
- #projectname-help: where you can ask for support and find answers to common project questions. You can post and ask questions in this channel.
Post in a way that keeps channels organized
- Search the channel before posting to check if your question has already been answered.
- When posting a question in #projectname-help, start a thread with a short topic title as the first message (for example: "🧵 Login issue" or "🧵 Task clarification"), then add details, screenshots, and context as replies in that thread.
- To reply in a thread, hover over a message and select Reply in thread. On mobile, long-press the message and choose Reply in thread.
- React with ✅ when your question is resolved so others can see it has been addressed.
How to get support
- Start in your #projectname-help channel for project-related questions.
- If you cannot access your channels or do not know where to post, you can also reach support via the Message on Slack button on the left side of your Project page on Handshake AI.
- If you are still unable to get access, contact Support directly.
Common issues and fixes
Issue: You are stuck in the old workspace
Sign out of the old workspace fully, or remove it from your Slack sidebar, then join the new workspace again.
Issue: You used a different email for Slack than your Handshake AI email
Slack access is tied to the email on your Handshake AI account. If your Slack account uses a different email (for example, a school address vs. a personal address), update your Handshake AI account email to match before accepting the invite.
Issue: You are in Slack but do not see the channels you expected
Channel access is based on your project role. If channels are missing, contact Support so the team can verify your role and channel setup.
