The Handshake AI Slack workspace is where all project updates, instructions, and time-sensitive updates are shared. Slack access is only granted after you complete all onboarding steps and pass applicable project assessments in your Handshake AI dashboard.
You will not be able to access Slack if you're currently onboarding to a project or have not yet completed and passed any project-related assessments.
Slack access and setup
Quick tips to get started
- Slack invites are sent automatically once you've fully onboarded and passed applicable project assessments. Please allow 24 hours for updates to process and invites to be sent.
- From your dashboard, click View Project, then click Message on Slack to launch the sign in page.
- Use the email address associated with your Handshake AI account when signing into Slack.
- Download the Slack desktop app (Mac or Windows) or the mobile app (iOS or Android).
How to navigate the Handshake AI Slack workspace
Find your way around
- Workspace switcher (top left): switch between workspaces if you belong to more than one.
- Sidebar: access your channels, direct messages, and apps.
- Search bar: the fastest way to find past answers and pinned posts.
Understand your channels
You'll be added to relevant project channels based on your project role and the channels created. Always refer to your project training for guidance on available channels and where to post.
Each project has two primary channels:
- #projectname-announcements: where the Handshake AI team posts important updates. You will not be able to post in this channel.
- #projectname-tasking: where the project team shares day-to-day work information and task updates. You can post and ask questions in this channel on designated threads.
Post in a way that keeps channels organized
- Search the channel before posting to check if your question has already been answered.
- To reply in a thread, hover over a message and select Reply in thread. On mobile, long-press the message and choose Reply in thread.
- React with ✅ when your question is resolved so others can see it has been addressed.
Common issues and fixes
- Issue: You used a different email for Slack than your Handshake AI email
- Resolution: Slack access is tied to the email on your Handshake AI account, so you'll need to use that email address to sign in (not an alias). Sign out of any other accounts, and sign in with your Handshake AI account email.
- Issue: You are in Slack but do not see the channels you expected
- Resolution: Contact Support. Channel access is based on your project role. If channels are missing, contact Support so the team can verify your role and channel setup.
