AI Skills Studio missions are free and available to anyone with a Handshake student account. Offers only come up if a mission selected calls for a paid ("Pro") feature of that tool, and you decide to pursue it.
We’ve secured free access to partner tools for current students to use when completing missions. For a small handful of missions, students will need to provide credit card information for verification purposes only. They will not be charged or locked into an auto-renewing trial.
For most missions, alumni will need to sign up for a free trial with a credit card to gain access to the partner’s tool. We’ve worked closely with our partners to ensure that alumni receive ample heads up before their trial auto-renews, and have a grace period to cancel if they miss the deadline.
Before signing up, be sure to review the offer details, including any credit-card requirements, promotional period, pricing, and when charges may begin. If an offer includes a promotional period (such as a year free), you will not be charged for the promotional offer during that promotional period. Any terms that apply after the promotional period will be shown by the third party before you complete signup.
Note: Verification requirements vary by offer. Some ask for a credit card, some ask for a school-issued email address to verify student status, and some may ask for neither. For example, one partner's student offer currently requires signing up with a school-issued email address.
If you’d rather not pursue an offer or provide credit card information, you don’t have to. Check the mission’s Requirements section for the third-party tools it uses. You may already have access to these tools through your school, or the tool may be available to use for free without signing up for an offer.
Types of offers
Public offer: Click the link and sign up directly—no special code needed.
Free trial: A standard free trial offered through the partner’s own site. This is the same type of trial anyone could sign up for, with nothing Handshake-specific about it. The partner’s standard trial terms apply.
Custom offer (built for Handshake): An offer created specifically for Handshake learners, typically with a unique code that you’ll enter manually. The partner’s offer terms will explain what the offer includes and any applicable requirements.
Not every mission includes a partner offer. If an offer is available, it will be listed in the mission’s Requirements section. You do not need to sign up for a partner offer unless the mission specifically indicates that one is available and relevant to completing the mission.
Common questions
I redeemed this offer before and now it says it's expired or isn't working. Most offers are one-time trials tied to your account or email. If your trial period simply ran out, that's expected. Check the partner's own pricing page if you'd like to continue on a paid plan. If you're receiving an error right away (not just after your trial ended), it likely means that email has already been used to redeem this offer.
I tried to sign up for a free trial and it says I'm not eligible or already used. Free trials are typically limited to one redemption per email address. If you’ve already used a trial with one email address, you may be able to use a different one—for example, your personal email instead of your school email, or vice versa.
This message may also appear if the offer isn’t available for your school or account type (for example, current student or alum). Check the mission’s Requirements section to confirm which offers are available to you.
I already used the student offer — can I also get the non-student one? No. Offers are generally limited to one redemption per person, not one per offer type. If you've already claimed an offer with a partner, that's your redemption for that partner.
I'm not based in the US or Canada — can I still get this offer? For most partners, international availability isn't confirmed yet. We're working on expanding eligibility, so check back for updates!
Can I use more than one partner's offer? Yes. These are separate offers from different partners, and using one doesn't affect your eligibility for another.
