Automate outreach
New job
After posting an eligible job, a modal will appear with the message: "Your job is now live. Now, get more applicants with automated outreach. We'll automatically reach out to qualified candidates and invite them to apply. No extra effort from you required!"
Click the black button Review automation to automate your outreach for the newly created job.
Existing job
Click Jobs from the left navigation bar, then select the job for which you want to automate your outreach for.
On the job posting overview tab, click the white button Manage outreach within the banner.
Note: if this feature is unavailable, the job is ineligible for automated outreach.
Automate your recruitment
On the automated job promotion page, make sure the toggle for 'Automatically invite qualified candidates to apply' is switched to the right.
In the Message section, customise the pre-set message with what makes your employer and the role special.
Once your selections are complete, click the black button Update job in the lower-right corner of the page.
Handshake will identify a target audience of candidates who are likely to apply for your role. It will then automatically schedule and send a targeted campaign, inviting them to apply.
Note: automated campaign messages are exempt from your message limits.
Campaign status
To view the campaign status, click the Overview tab of the job posting page.
The page displays varying messages depending on the status:
In progress
When in progress, the message "Your Handshake outreach is in progress. Next automated message: [Date, Time, Timezone]." is displayed.
No new candidates
When there are no new candidates, the message "We've run out of new candidates. Expand your audience by posting your job to new institutions. We will try to send again on [Date, Time, Timezone]" is displayed.

- To expand your audience, click the black button Post to more institutions.
Outreach is off
When outreach is disabled, the message "Your Handshake outreach is off" is displayed.

- To enable automatic outreach, click the white button Manage outreach.
Campaign recurrence
The campaign will run in weekly batches as long as the job remains upgraded and there are still qualified candidates who haven't been contacted.
After we have reached out to all potential candidates, you will receive an email notification. This email will recommend that you use Institution Recommendations to post your job to broaden your candidate pool.

Manage outreach
On the job posting overview tab, click the black button Manage outreach in the banner.
On the automated job promotion page, select which activities you want to automate or disable.

Automatically invite qualified candidates to apply
- Get your job in front of more great candidates. Handshake will reach out to qualified matches and invite them to apply.
- Note: If you disable this feature, you will not be able to allow candidates to skip the application and book an interview.

- Allow candidates to skip the application and book an interview right away.

To automate an activity, toggle the button to the right. To disable an activity, toggle the button to the left.
Note: blue indicates that the activity is automated, while grey indicates that the activity is not.
Once your selections are complete, click the black button Update job in the lower-right corner of the page.
