Handshake offers several ways to communicate the events and Appointments over to your University Calendar. This article will explain each option and detail how they can assist you with your tasks.

Two Way Calendar Sync (recommended)
This option will allow your University Calendar and Handshake Appointments Calendar determine when you have scheduled items and when you are busy with other tasks:
- Handshake will place all scheduled Appointments on your University Calendar
- Your University Calendar will place all “busy” Appointments into your Handshake Appointment Calendar. This will be displayed as a grey striped block of time that cannot be scheduled by Students.

You can also copy your events and appointments from Handshake over to your University Calendar without the Two Way Sync.
Follow the instructions below to sync your Handshake calendar with your Outlook or Google Calendar.
Personal Handshake Calendar Sync
This will export to your external personal calendar and will include:
- Appointments
- Events
- Interview slots (students only)
- Applications (students only)
To set this up:
- Click the main drop down menu
- Select User Settings
- Click Calendar Sync from the menu to the left of the page
- Copy the link in the Calendar Export section or download a static iCalendar file
Institution Handshake Calendar Sync
This will export to your external personal calendar and will include:
- Hosted events
- Owned events
- Attending events
- Career Fairs
To set this up:
- Click the main drop down menu
- Select Institution Settings
- Copy the link in the Calendar Export section or download a static iCalendar file
Calendar Specific Instructions
Once you have your Calendar Export link, you will need to add it to your Calendar. There are many Calendar apps out there, with some that are included built into your Operating System. We have included links to instructions for some of the most popular calendar applications below. You may need to refer to the instruction manual for your Calendar application to locate where to add an ICS URL if you don't use one of the calendars below.
