Handshake is currently available in two primary regions - the United States and Europe. The US and European platforms are completely separate from one another, and cannot be used interchangeably. Accounts on either platform are non-transferable - we recommend that you only sign up for an account in the region which you are currently located.
Within Europe, we currently cater for three main markets - the UK, France and Germany. Students from any other European country are welcome to use the platform, however English, French and German are the only languages supported at the present time. URLs for each regional platform are located below:

- France: https://app.joinhandshake.fr

Q: I am a student, but I'm being asked to join a company. How can I skip this step and join my university?
If you are a trying to sign up as a student, but encountering terminology related to company connections or information about employer Terms of Service, you'll need to switch over to the student registration workflow. Instructions on how to do this can be found at the following articles:
- For students based in the United States: Getting Started with Handshake
- For students based in Europe: Getting Started with Handshake
Q: I'm being asked to provide my company's EIN but I don't know what that is? Can I create my account without it?
The EIN is a federal tax ID number for businesses operating in the USA. If you're based outside of the US, you have signed up on the wrong platform. If this is the case - not to worry! Simply follow the instructions provided in Getting Started With Handshake: Employers to sign up in the correct location.
Alternatively - if you are a Europe-based business and need to hire in the US - reach out to our support team to request further advice.
Q: Can you merge my Europe and US accounts so I can hire from all institutions on Handshake?
Employer user accounts cannot be merged either within each regional platform, or across the two separate platforms for Europe and the US. The good news is that you can use the same email address for separate US and Europe accounts as each side operates independently and the accounts are not linked in any way.
Q: I created an employer account on the US platform, but I need to hire in Europe, what do I do?
You can create a new account by following the instructions at Getting Started With Handshake: Employers. If you need to create a student account, instead refer to Getting Started with Handshake. If you would like to to delete the account you created outside of your region, please reach out to our Support Team for further assistance.
Q: I'm an international student returning home from the UK to the US and I'm searching for work, how can I move my UK account to the US?
Accounts cannot be transferred or duplicated across regional platforms (e.g. from the UK platform to the US) - however, you can create a new account in your home region and fill in your profile in such a way as to reflect your original account. If you studied at an institution in your home region, or if your institution is international and on both Handshake apps, you can also request to affiliate your account with them. Please refer to Creating an Account and Logging In to Handshake for further information.
