Unsubscribe from Handshake Emails

Emails sent by Handshake serve a range of important purposes, including:

  • Password reset emails
  • Job application updates
  • Career fair and event registrations and reminders
  • Messages that help you connect with employers
  • Recommendations for jobs, events, and opportunities from your school

These emails help you stay informed about activity in your Handshake account.

 

Email Domains Used by Handshake

Handshake emails are sent from several email domains. An email domain is the part of the email address that comes after the @ symbol.

Handshake uses these domains:

  • joinhandshake.com
  • notifications.joinhandshake.com
  • mail.joinhandshake.com
  • m.joinhandshake.com
  • g.joinhandshake.com
  • cm.joinhandshake.com

Emails from these domains are legitimate Handshake messages.

 

Manage your email preferences in Handshake

The most reliable way to control many of the emails you receive from Handshake is to update your Notification preferences in your account.  This ensures you don’t miss out on anything important, while still tailoring the messages you receive.

Unsubscribe from a specific email in your inbox

You can also unsubscribe from certain emails directly from your inbox.

To use the unsubscribe option in an email:

  1. Open the Handshake email.
  2. Go to the bottom of the message.
  3. Choose one of the options that appear (options may vary by email):
    • Manage email preferences – opens your Handshake Notification preferences page, where you can review and adjust more settings.
    • unsubscribe – stops future emails of the same general category as the message, sent from the same Handshake email domain.

If you select Unsubscribe, a new browser tab opens. Confirm the change by selecting Unsubscribe again.

Note: Unsubscribing this way affects only that email category from that specific email domain. You may still receive:

  • Other types of Handshake emails, and/or
  • Emails from other Handshake domains

To make broader changes, update your Notification preferences in Handshake.

 

Want to start receiving Handshake emails again?

If you unsubscribed or changed your settings and want to receive Handshake emails again:

  1. Open your Notification preferences in Handshake and confirm that the categories you want are turned on for Email.
  2. If you're still not receiving expected emails, we can help! Let our support team know the email address connected to your Handshake account.
