In Handshake, jobs have two IDs that serve different purposes:
- Job ID: Connected to the job itself, allowing it to be shared across Handshake.
- Posting ID: Connects the job to a specific school. Your school approves a posting (posting ID) that is linked to the job (job ID).
Search for a job posting by ID
You can search for a job posting by ID using one of three methods:
- Search for a job from the Jobs page
- Global search
- URL search
Note: Enter the job ID number only. Including the # symbol will yield no results.
Search for a job from the Jobs page
1. Click Jobs in the left navigation panel, then select the approval status tab that reflects the current status of the job: Pending, In Progress, Approved, Declined, or Expired.
2. Type the job ID into the search bar.
Global search
1. Type the job ID into the general search bar at the top of the page.
2. Select the job from the results.
Note: Global search only returns active, approved job postings. Expired or pending jobs will not appear in the results.
URL search
If you know the job ID, you can enter it directly into the URL using the following format:
https://app.joinhandshake.com/jobs/[job ID]
For example: https://app.joinhandshake.com/jobs/1959
