After you’ve selected Employers from the left navigation bar, you will be directed to the Search page.
Search for employers by name
The search bar at the top of the page can be used to look up any verified employer on Handshake.
If you know the name of the employer you’re searching for, the search bar at the top of the page allows you to search for specific employers! Just type the name of the employer and the dropdown bar will list all employers with the letters you’ve entered.
Discovery prompts
Below the search bar are different discovery prompts.
Discovery prompts are a new way to review your employers across a number of different criteria. Each prompt will provide a new table complete with filters, row, and bulk actions that will assist your team to drive more engagement and improve your decision making process. We provide the following discovery prompts for your use:
- Most job applications received
- Most active jobs
- Most alumni
- Most recently added to network
Selecting one of these will direct you to an employer search filter set up that reflects that discovery prompt. Select the headers below to learn more about each discovery prompt page.
Most job applications received
Most Applications Received - Employers that have received the most applications from your students. By default, this gives a glimpse into the last six months - but you can change the date range as you wish with the filters provided.

Filters applied:
- Job type: Job
- Applicant type: Job
- Created at start: [6 months prior to the present day]
The employers on this page appear in descending order of most applications. Additional quick filters available at the top of the table include Individual majors, From college, and Job type.For example: You may be interested in finding employers that your accounting students are most interested in. These filters can help you easily analyze that information.

The employers on this page appear in descending order of most active jobs. Additional quick filters available at the top of the table include Collection, Industry, Job function, and Job type.
Most alumni

The employers on this page appear in descending order from most alumni staff members to least. Additional quick filters available at the top of the table include Employer industry and Alumni recruiting interest
Most recently added to network
Employers

Filters applied:
- Approved
The employers on this page appear in descending order of which employer was mostly recently approved by your institution. Additional quick filters available at the top of the table include Favorites, Collections, and Assigned to.
Individual row actions
On a discovery prompt or [your institution]’s network page, you can select individual row actions for each employer.
Select a star in an employer’s row to favorite that employer, or unfavorite them. The person icon gives you the option to assign this employer to a specific staff member.
The three dots button opens a menu with the following options:
- Send email: opens a targeted email draft to send to this employer’s owner contacts.
- Manage labels: opens the label management box.
- Edit permissions: opens a side sheet to add or remove permissions for this employer.
- Edit collections: opens a side sheet to add or remove this employer from collections.
Favorites
The bottom of the Search page features your favorite employers. Any employers that you’ve favorited or starred will be listed here
[Your institution]’s network
Select [your institution]’s network at the top of the page.
This page provides a list of employers that have either been approved or declined by your institution.
The filters available at the top of the page include Favorites, Collections, and Assigned to.
All Employers tab
Select All Employers at the top of the page.
You can use this page to search for any employer on Handshake. The filters available at the top of the page include Type and Size.
The Status column will indicate whether the employer has been approved or declined by your institution.
