If you need to cancel or delete an event on Handshake, the available options will depend on the event’s RSVP status and format.
- Events without RSVPs can be canceled by adjusting the event’s date and time to a point in the past.
- Events with RSVPs cannot be edited. In this case, notify the registered students, then contact Handshake Support to request cancellation.
- Deletion options vary depending on whether the event is hosted on-campus, off-campus, or virtually.

Canceling an event with no RSVPs
1. Click Events from the left navigation bar in Handshake, then select the event you want to edit from the table.
Tip: Click the white button Include past events in the header and uncheck the box to the left of "Include past events" to filter out past events.
2. Click the More options menu (three-dot icon) in the top-right corner of the page, then select Edit event.
3. On the event edit page, scroll to the Date and Time section.
Set the start date and time to a past date (e.g., yesterday).
Set the end date and time to an earlier time than the start (e.g., one hour earlier).
4. Scroll to the bottom and click the blue button Save to apply your changes.
The event will now be treated as past and will no longer appear as an upcoming event to students.
Canceling an event with RSVPs
If students have already registered for your event, the date and time cannot be edited. In this case:

Contact the Support team with the event name and a request to cancel it.

Employers and host schools cannot delete off-campus or virtual events. To request deletion, contact our Support team.
On-campus events
