This added protection helps ensure a safe and reliable experience for all users, including students, employers, and career services staff.
Why does Handshake use Cloudflare?
Cloudflare helps Handshake:
- Prevent the creation of fake or automated accounts
- Block bots from misusing the app or website
These measures are part of ongoing efforts to keep the platform safe for real users.
What you might experience
Most users will not notice any change. However, in rare cases, you may encounter a brief Cloudflare verification screen when:
Creating a new Handshake account
Logging in or using the Handshake mobile app
The screen typically disappears within a few seconds, and no action is required.
If you receive a checkbox confirming you're a human, check the box and you will be redirected back to Handshake automatically.
If the check does not complete, or the page does not recognize your action, you'll remain on the Cloudflare page instead of being returned to Handshake.
Troubleshooting steps
If the verification screen does not go away or seems to repeat:
Refresh your browser or restart the app.
Ensure your browser is up to date and that JavaScript is enabled.
Disable any browser extensions, such as ad blockers, or try using an incognito or private browsing window.
