The Student Engagement Dashboard in Insights can help you take a closer look at the factors that affect the numbers you're seeing in the homepage dashboard.
Additionally, the dashboard includes peer group comparison which is based on your school rank and Handshake implementation year. We are not able to share your peer schools at this time.
Note: These numbers do not include students that are archived or blocked by your school.
Topics:
To navigate to this dashboard:
1. Select Insights from the left navigation bar
2. Select Hub from the tabs at the upper-left of the page
3. Select Handshake - Dashboards from the folder selections
4. Then select Student Engagement
The reports included in this dashboard, along with the fields that you can filter on, are listed below.
Helpful definitions when reviewing data
- Undergraduate: students with the school year of Freshman, Sophomore, Junior or Senior
- Alumni: students with a school year of Alumni
- Graduate: students with a school year of Masters, Doctorate or Postdoctoral Studies

Reports
Overall Engagement
Executive Engagement
- Student activations: count of students that have logged in and agreed to Terms of Service in Handshake
- Direct engagements: Recorded actions across student accounts in regards to interactions with appointments, career fair check-ins, event check-ins, experiences, and interview schedule check-ins. These are also broken down by each category in the section below (Direct engagements)
- Applications: Number of applications created by students
All-time Engagement
- A chart that compares academic years to number of engagements for that academic year.
Activation & Profile Completion Overview
- Complete Profiles: count of unique students with at least one work experience, organization and skill
- Incomplete Profiles: count of unique students that have logged into handshake but do not have at least one work experience, organization and skill added to their profile
Student Demographic Breakdowns
- Use the filter on the right to determine what demographic will be the focal point of the reports.
Remaining reports:
- Activation & Profile Completion
- Mobile Activation
- Profile Visibility
- Students w/ an approve resume
- All-time Student Activations by Academic Year
Application Activity
- Submitted Application: applications that were created in Handshake after the student applied for a job. This does not include withdrawn applications
Applications by Student Demographic and Employer or Job Attribute
- Use either of these filters to drill down on the specific applications
Applications by state
- This interactive map shows the locations with the most applications with the filters that you've set. You can drag the map to view different locations or zoom in and out.
