Students and alumni may occasionally stop receiving emails from Handshake, such as job alerts, application updates, interview notifications, and other platform messages.
These emails are separate from messages sent by your university or by employers through their own systems.
Before requesting help, make sure:
- You’re checking the inbox linked to your Handshake account
- You’ve looked in:
- Inbox
- Junk / Spam
- Other folders or filters
- You’ve searched your email for “Handshake” across all folders
If you find emails in spam or another folder, move them to your inbox and mark them as “not spam.”
What “email suppression” means
If you still aren’t receiving emails, your address may be suppressed.
This means Handshake is preventing certain emails from being sent to your address. Common reasons include:
- You clicked an unsubscribe link
- Emails to your address previously failed to deliver (bounced)
How to start receiving emails again
If your email is suppressed and you want to receive emails from Handshake again, contact Handshake Support and request removal from the suppression list.
