This article explains how career services staff receive notifications, review request details, and approve or decline employer requests for on-campus interviews (OCIs) in Handshake.
How are career services staff notified of OCI requests?
Handshake notifies all active career services staff when an employer submits an OCI request, regardless of the staff member's assigned role.
These notifications appear under the globe icon in the top navigation bar. A badge on the icon indicates the number of unread notifications.
Staff with the Interview Schedules Access role receive two additional alerts:
- A number badge next to Interviews in the left navigation bar.
- The request appears on the Requests tab of the Interviews page. The number in parentheses indicates the number of pending requests.
Note: If the badge next to Interviews does not match the number of pending requests shown on the Interviews page, an unprocessed request may have an interview date that has already passed. Use the date range filter to locate past schedules, then decline the request.
How do I open and review an OCI request?
1. Click Interviews from the left navigation bar.
2. Click the Requests tab.
3. Locate the request, then click the employer's name and interview schedule name to open the Interview Details page.
The Interview Details page displays information about the employer’s request, including:
- Employer: The company requesting the interview.
- Name: The name of the interview schedule.
- Rooms: The number of rooms requested compared to the number assigned.
- Interview Schedule Type: The timeline and schedule type selected by the employer.
- Interview Schedule Template: The interview slot template selected by the employer.
- Tracking Resumes in Handshake: Indicates whether the employer is collecting resumes through Handshake.
- Contacts: The employer contact associated with the interview schedule.
Review these details before approving or declining the request.
