Handshake supports CAS single sign on
Welcome to the single sign on setup process. Before we begin, it's worth noting that Handshake uses SSO to authenticate users only. Handshake does not support SSO for provisioning or updating account information.
To use Handshake with CAS authentication follow these steps:
Setup Handshake on your CAS Server
Handshake uses the following URLs. You will need to add these in your local CAS settings:
CAS URLs |
---|
app.joinhandshake.co.uk/ |
youruniversitydomain.joinhandshake.co.uk |
NOTE: youruniversitydomain should be substituted with your university's sub-domain, this is normally the first part of your email (i.e. york if your email is york.ac.uk)
Login to Handshake to Configure SSO
Setting SSO up on Handshake is self-service! You can log into Handshake and configure your single sign on without having to loop in Handshake. Here is how:
- Log into Handshake using the username / password you created
- Navigate to the institution settings page
- Complete the setup (indicate CAS as format)
- Test
You can find more details on this process here.
Note: do not use the values/URLs used in the US version of the help centre as those values will not work in the UK instance.
