If you’re changing employers, need to represent more than one company, or want to register a new company under the same email address, follow the steps below to make sure your account is set up correctly.
If you’re changing employers
If you’ve used Handshake before with a different employer, whether you can reuse your account depends on the email address you used when registering.
If you signed up with a company email address
If your Handshake account was created using your previous company’s corporate email (for example, jane@oldcompany.com) and that domain is exclusive to that organization, you will need to create a new Handshake account using your new company email (for example, jane@abc.com).
If you signed up with a personal email address
If your existing Handshake account was created with a personal email (for example, jane@gmail.com), you can continue using the same account. You will just need to leave your previous company and request to join your new one.
To leave your previous company, refer to Leaving a Company in Handshake.
After requesting to join your new company profile, a request will be sent to the company’s owner or admin for approval.
If the company owner is inactive or no one responds, contact our Support team.
Tip: Whenever possible, use the email domain associated with your company when joining a company in Handshake. This helps verify your connection to the organization and accelerate the verification process.
If you need to create a second company profile under the same email
Handshake does not allow multiple company profiles to be created under the same email address.
If you need to register a second company, you will need to complete the registration process using the company email address associated with that organization.
Notes:
Each company profile must be registered separately with a unique company domain.
A single email address cannot be connected to more than one company profile at a time.
If your organization has multiple divisions you want to represent in Handshake, you can add divisions to your existing company profile. Read more about How to Add Divisions to Your Company.
If you need to create or represent multiple companies
Each Handshake user account can only be connected to one company profile at a time.
If you need to register a new company, you will need to complete the registration process using the email domain associated with that company. Each company profile must be registered separately with a unique company domain.
If you recruit for or manage roles on behalf of multiple companies, you will need to create a separate Handshake account for each one, using the corresponding company email address for that organization.
If your organization has multiple divisions you want to represent in Handshake, you can add divisions to your existing company profile instead of creating separate company profiles.
If you represent multiple clients as a third-party recruiter, refer to If you're a third-party recruiter.
If you’re a third-party recruiter
Third-party recruiters should either connect with the company they represent or create a company profile on Handshake if that company is not yet registered.
