Update | Description |
Projected launch |
Navigation bar | Updating the navigation bar on the left hand side of the screen with our new brand colors and fonts. | March |
Customizable employer collections filter | Brand the employer collections job filter with a name that resonates with your students. If your school short name is 15 characters or less, it will replace the word “Employer” in the filter name. | March |
Expired posting comments and activity information | Comments and activity feed information on job postings will be removed 30 days after the job expires. This information will still be available via Analytics. | April |
Reducing evergreen jobs | To reduce evergreen jobs (those with expiration dates far into the future) we're implementing a rule that job expiration dates cannot be more than one year from the job start date. When this change launches, we will also update existing jobs to ensure their expiration dates adhere to the one year maximum moving forward. No jobs will auto-expire because of this change. | April |
Globalized start/expiration dates | To simplify the job posting experience for employers and ensure Handshake continues to run smoothly, employers will soon set one set of start and expiration dates on jobs, rather than a start and expiration date on a school-by-school basis. The expiration date will be able to be altered at a school-specific level if an on-campus interview is attached to a job. In conjunction with the updates to reduce evergreen jobs (above), we will globalize start and expiration dates for existing jobs as well. | April |
Duplicate experience templates | Easily duplicate an experience template to maintain your settings when creating a new template. | April |
Experience template qualifications | Set qualifications (like school year or major) on experience templates so that only those specific students can see them. | April |
Experience template form fields | Dictate which experience student form fields are visible or hidden, and which are required or optional. | April |
Experience form language updates | Updating the student form to reflect language changes requested by partners. Employers are now referred to as organizations. Jobs are referred to as experiences. | April |

Update | Description | Projected launch |
Employer collections | Updates to the job search experience call more attention to employers curated by career services. The collections an employer belongs to will be highlighted more prominently on job postings. Furthermore, the employer collections filter will be accessible outside of the “all filters” dropdown menu on the job search page. | March |
Navigation bar | Updating the navigation bar with our new brand colors and fonts. We also plan to move the navigation bar from the top of the page to the left hand side of the page. No functionality is changing—just the design. | March |
Job search filters | [Experiment] Testing new filters on the job search page. Mirroring the “new jobs recommended for you”, “popular in your major”, and “based on your career interests” sections on the homepage, these filters will help students explore jobs if they’re not sure where to start. | March |
Helping students understand why they are receiving some emails | We'll be adding a line of copy to our highest volume emails to help students understand why are they are receiving this email. The updated copy will apply to emails sent from employers to students and Handshake's jobs and event digest emails. Example copy: "You're getting this email because this employer is looking for qualifications that match your profile." | March |
Adding notifications bell | [Beta] Testing adding a notifications bell on the navigation bar on mobile and web to improve discoverability of notifications. | March |
Improved login on iOS | To improve security and simplify logins on the iOS mobile app, we'll start testing using “magic” login links sent to a student’s email. Students will simply click the link and be redirected to a logged in experience on the iOS mobile app. This experience will replace the need to copy and paste a temporary passcode. | April |
“Not interested” in a campaign | Students will now be able to give feedback on employer campaigns stating they’re “not interested”. If a student replies they aren’t interested, they’ll be unsubscribed from any follow up messages from that campaign and the campaign will be archived. This is a first step in reducing irrelevant campaign messages a student receives! | April |

Greenhouse custom demographic questions | We will be supporting Greenhouse's custom demographic questions on the Handshake-hosted application form. | March |
Navigation bar | Updating the navigation bar on the left hand side of the screen with our new brand colors and fonts. | March |
Improved Campaign Targeting | To optimize campaign engagement and improve the messaging experience for recipients, students with a very low probability of response will be removed from campaign send-lists. | March |
Campaign Email user experience | More than half of all student engagements with campaigns originate from emails sent directly from Handshake. This launch will improve the look and feel of these emails to help increase click-through-rate and response rate from students. | March |
Simplified school posting | With a new streamlined school posting workflow, you can post your job to all connected schools with one click; you’ll also be able to post to a subset of schools by selecting a school list of your choice instead of each school separately. In addition, to make sure jobs are fresh and students see the most current jobs, we will implement application expiration dates to be set within one year of the application start date. Jobs will no longer have different start and expiration dates at the posting level and will adhere to the global start and expiration dates.
| April |
Removing expired posting comment and activity data | We are going to be deleting comments and activity information from job posts 30 days after it expires in order to make sure our platform performance does not get impacted with more job post volume. | April |
Talent List | We will simplify the UI within the Talent section of our Employer product to make it easier to understand prospects at a glance and filter our talent pool. This update will remove the previously used Your Candidates and Search All functions on Handshake in exchange for Talent List. | April |
