After creating an event in Handshake, or being approved for an in-person fair registration, you may choose to invite teammates to set up and access Handshake's Event App on their mobile device!
The mobile app allows teammates to view upcoming events they’ll be attending, access past events they’ve attended, keep a list of candidates they've met with, view and search student profiles, and submit evaluations for candidates they conversed with. Inviting teammates to access the event via their mobile device, and adding custom evaluation questions, is done via Handshake Event setup in Handshake.
This feature is available to Premium partners with the Handshake Events module enabled. For more information on our Premium offering, please check out this resource!
Access Handshake Events setup
From the Event or Fairs Details page in Handshake, click the Handshake Events setup tab.

Add Employees attending
Click inside the Search employees box to populate a dropdown list of teammates that have a Handshake account and are associated with your company.
To add teammates from the list, click on their name. Once added, their names will be displayed below the Search box.
If the teammate doesn't have a Handshake account, click the white button + Create new employee account, then add the following information in the pop-up that appears.
- First name
- Last name
- Email address
- Phone number
Click the blue button Create, located in the lower-right corner of the pop-up to create!
Note: once an account is created, an email is sent to the new user with a link for them to confirm their account and set their password and login.
To remove a teammate that was selected, click on the X, located to the right of the name.
Add Evaluation criteria
Add up to 5 criteria for your teammates to evaluate students on.
Click inside the Search box to populate a dropdown list of options to choose from.
- Relevant courses
- Relevant work experience
- Relevant major
- Seeking full-time job
- Seeking internship
- Authorized to work in US
- Qualifying graduation date
- Relevant skills
Click on your desired selection to add, or create a custom evaluation option by typing it out in the box and then clicking the blue link “add”.
Once added, the evaluation criteria names will be displayed below the Search box.
Note: added criteria questions will prompt employees to respond with a thumbs up and thumbs down option.
To remove an evaluation, click on the X, located to the right of the evaluation you'd like to remove.
Once everything is added and ready, click the blue button Save, located in the upper-right corner of the Handshake Events setup section!
