This guide will walk you through how to register for an in-person fair on Handshake.
To register for a fair, you'll first need to sign up for Handshake. Learn how to Create an Employer User Account, Join a Company, and Connect with Schools.
For specific details regarding virtual fairs, refer to Identifying & Registering for Virtual Fairs.
Note: if you need to cancel a registration, please contact the school's career services center for assistance.
Register for a fair
1. Click directly on the link in the invite email received, or search for the fair in Handshake. Learn How to Search for a Career Fair.
2. On the fair's Details page, click the blue Register button located in the upper-right of the page.
- The Details page will provide you with all the details relevant to the fair.

4. This will take you directly to the Career Fair's Registration form. Select or fill in the following information:
Registration Options
- Registration Type (varies per school)
- Select one (type)
- Select I will not be attending this day (for in-person fairs with more than one date and time) when applicable
- Representatives
- Total Representatives Count for Session (total number of representatives attending the fair)
- Names of Representatives Attending this Session (choose contacts)
- Click on Create it here if contact isn't listed. Learn How to Create an External Contact.
- Add-on Items (varies per school and fair)
General Items
- Add-on Items (varies per school and fair)
Basic Information
- Employer Description (character limit set per school)
- Schedule Owner (career fair registrant)
- Which division of the organization are you registering? (Divisions are only supported for in-person fairs at this time.)
- Create a new registration for each specific division that will attend the fair. See Register multiple divisions.
Open Roles
- Are the role(s) you want to fill posted on Handshake? (yes/no/ i'm not hiring for a specific role right now)
- If Yes, select the jobs in the textbox under the field *Jobs on Handshake.
- If No, enter the titles of the jobs you are hiring for in the textbox under the field *Job Titles.
- Note: the fair will be promoted on job postings associated with the registration if it occurs within 60 days.
- If you're not hiring for a specific role right now, you will not be required to enter any job information.
- Do any of the positions that you are hiring for require work authorization? (yes/no)
- If Yes is selected, also answer:
- Would you sponsor a work visa for the right candidate? (yes/no)
- Are you willing to hire candidates that are temporarily authorized to work for a defined period in their field of study? (e.g. for a job / internship under OPT/CPT) (yes/no)
- If Yes is selected, also answer:
Looking for (optional)
- Employment Types (select one/many)
- Job Types (select one/many)
- School Years (select one/many)
- Major Groups (select major groups or individual majors)
Payment
- Manual or Credit Card (credit card payment allowed per school preference)
- Billing address
- Agree to refund policy (check box to agree)
Extra Questions
- These are questions created and managed by the school hosting the fair, so they'll likely vary from school to school.
5. Once all information is filled out, click on the blue Create Registration button in the lower-right corner of the page.
Following successful registration, you'll be directed to the registration overview page.
Register multiple divisions
To register multiple divisions, a separate registration is needed for each division.
1. Click on Fairs from the left navigation bar in Handshake, and locate the fair.
Tip: use the filter Show Registered Only to narrow down the displayed list.
2. Click on the green Registered button to the far right of the Details page, and then click +Register Another Division.
Registration approval
The host school will review each registration(s) submitted. Once approved, your registration(s) will show as approved on both the Fairs page and on the respective registration (if registering multiple divisions).
Additionally, an email will be sent to the address provided in Handshake if email notifications are enabled. Learn about Default Notification Preferences (Employers).
Note: the Fairs page will display more than one approval status if you submitted more than one division registration to a particular fair, and the approval status varies across registrations.
