Employers can view student profiles on Handshake if their company is approved to recruit at the student's school and the student has opted to share their profile.
Profiles provide a comprehensive overview of a student's academic and professional background to help you connect with the right candidates.
Access student profiles
Student profiles can be accessed from the following locations within Handshake:
- Home page (Applicants section)

- Jobs page (Applicants tab)

Profile layout by location
The profile layout varies slightly depending on where you access it from.
Talent page or Fairs and Events page (Candidates tab)
Clicking a student's name opens a side panel displaying the student's name, title, and program. From there, click View profile in the top right of the panel to open the full profile. The full profile contains three tabs: Profile, Documents, and Activity and notes.
Jobs page (Applicants tab)
Applicants are listed on the left side of the screen. Selecting a name opens the profile inline on the right. The Message and Move to buttons appear at the top of the profile panel. The profile includes the following sections: About, Work experience, Skills, Education, and Organizations.
Jobs page (Matches tab)
Candidates appear as cards with AI-generated summaries and Shortlist and Remove actions. Selecting a candidate opens a profile panel on the right with a Message [student name] button.
Note: If a student's profile is private, their name will appear with a lock icon and "Private profile" label. For more details on messaging applicants with private profiles, refer to Messaging Applicants.
