Before withdrawing an application on behalf of a student, confirm how the student applied. The application method determines whether it can be withdrawn in Handshake.
Before you withdraw an application
- Submitted directly in Handshake: Career Services can withdraw the application on the student’s behalf, including after the employer has reviewed it. Students can withdraw their own application only while its status is Pending.
-
Submitted through an external apply link: The application cannot be withdrawn from the employer’s external system through Handshake. The student or Career Services should contact the employer directly to request withdrawal.
- Note: Withdrawing the application in Handshake does not impact the application submitted through the employer’s external site.
- Submitted through an ATS integration: Applications submitted through an applicant tracking system integration, such as Greenhouse, Workday, or iCIMS, cannot be withdrawn in Handshake. The student should contact the employer directly to request withdrawal.
