If you accidentally created an employer account but you’re actually a student or alum, this can be fixed.
Option 1: Create your student/alumni account
You can still create a student/alumni account using the same email address you used for your employer account.
- Log out of Handshake (if you’re signed in).
- Go to the student sign-up page: https://app.joinhandshake.com/register
- Enter the same email address and follow the prompts to create your student/alumni account.
Tip: If you get a message that your email is already in use, open an incognito/private browsing window and try signing up again.

Option 2: Remove an employer account you don’t need
If you do not need the employer account at all, you can request that it be removed. Let us know the email address you used for the employer account.
