To register for a career fair in Handshake, the following conditions must be met:
- The fair must be open for registration and visible.
- Your company profile must not be declined by the school.
- You must have the appropriate role type assigned to your user account.
- For Premium partners, the necessary permissions must also be granted.
If you're experiencing issues while attempting to register for a fair, follow the steps below to troubleshoot the issue.
Fair visibility and registration dates
The school hosting the career fair determines fair visibility. If you are unable to find the fair, even when using the search filters, it is likely that the fair has been hidden. Contact the school's career center directly to request an invitation link.
Each career fair has specific registration date ranges. If the registration window is closed, the blue button Register will change to Registration Period Has Passed. You’ll need to contact the school to explore available options.
If you’re on the fair’s page and there’s no "Register" button or alternate text indicating that registration is closed, proceed to the next section: Connection status with the school.
Connection status with the school
If a school has declined your company’s connection request, you won’t be able to access or register for their fairs.
To check your company’s connection status with a school:
1. Enter the name of the school in the search bar in the upper-left corner of the page, then click on it.
2. Navigate to the School Approval section located in the center of the school's page.
- If the status is marked as 'Declined' in a red oval, your connection request has been denied, and you won’t be able to register for fairs at that school. Learn more about being Declined by a School.
- If the status shows anything other than "Declined," you should be able to find and register for their fairs. If not, continue to the next section: Eligible role types.
Eligible role types
All role types, except Representatives, can register for a fair, provided the 'Manage Fairs' permission is enabled for their role.
*Premium partners can configure role-level permissions for their teammates. Learn How to Configure Role Level Permissions.
How to confirm your Role in Handshake
