Institutions partnered with Handshake are responsible for approving or declining employer connection requests. Each institution has its own guidelines for determining which employers and jobs to approve.

Overview
Institutions consider several factors when reviewing approval requests, such as:

The types of jobs posted

Their history or prior relationship with the employer

How established the employer is
Once you post a job to an institution or request to join its network, your request will remain in pending status until the institution takes action.
Permissions
When your job or connection request is approved, an institution may grant your employer additional permissions to engage with their students.
Permissions include:
- Post Events
- Post Interview Schedules
Some institutions may also choose to auto-approve all job postings and interview schedules submitted by your employer.
View permissions
1. Click Institutions from the left navigation bar, then click the Your Employer's Institutions tab.
2. Use the filters on the left sidebar to refine your results.
Available filters
Basic employers have access to the following filters:
- Keyword search

Permissions
- This defines how you can interact with the institution in Handshake, e.g., post jobs, post events.
- Location

Handshake Open
- Students in the Handshake Open Network institutions who have not directly purchased and partnered with Handshake.
- Ranking
- Size
- Region
3. Once the institution is located, click the institution name to open its profile.
4. On the institution's profile page, navigate to the Institution Approval section. Your permissions are listed on the right side of this section.
