To perform recruiting activities, you must either post a job and receive approval, or be proactively approved by an institution.
After you post a job to an institution(s), your request is automatically sent to each institution the job was posted to. Your request will remain in a Pending status until the institution approves or declines your request.
- If you do not have a job to post, and you've contacted the institution to ask for approval, an approval status will not be available until the institution manually either approves or declines your employer.
During this time, you cannot interact with students at the institution, post events, or request interview schedules at the institution.
Note: you can search for and register for a career fair without connecting with an institution or posting a job.
View institution status
1. Click Institutions from the left navigation bar, then click the More Institutions on Handshake tab.
2. To refine your search results, navigate to the Approval Status filter in the left sidebar, and select the checkbox for Pending.
3. The table will display all institutions that have a Pending status, which indicates that the institution has not yet approved your job.
Timeframe
It typically takes 1-5 business days for an institution to approve an employer and their job postings. If you do not receive a response within that time frame, you may contact the Career Services department at the institution.
Once the institution approves or declines your request, you will be notified via an in-app notification or email, or both. To view or adjust your notification preferences, refer to Default Notification Preferences (Employers.
Note: your approval status with an institution can only be changed by that specific institution, and not by Handshake.
