The Institution Network Management page enables you to manage your institution connections efficiently, as well as discover new institutions to connect with from our 1000+ partner institutions.
Features available only to Premium partners are indicated by an asterisk (*). For more information, please check out this resource.
Permission to recruit at each institution is maintained at a company-to-institution level. This means:
- If you'd like to recruit from a specific institution(s), you must post a job and receive approval, or contact each institution directly and ask to be approved, if you do not have a job to post.
- If an institution declines your job posting, you may post another job to the institution, so long as the institution does not decline your company.
- If a institution declines your company, you will not be able to post jobs to that specific institution nor perform other recruiting activities, e.g., post events to that institution or register for career fairs hosted by that institution, unless the institution changes your connection status.
Access Institution Network Management
To access Institution Network Management, click Institutions from the left navigation bar in Handshake.
The page contains 3 tabs for Basic employers, and 4 for Premium partners.
All employers have access to the following tabs:

Favourites
- Premium partners have access to Institution Lists, where their Favourites will be listed.
- Your Employer's Institutions (all institutions your employer is approved with that are not on your Favourites)
- More Institutions on Handshake (all institutions your employer is not currently approved with, where you can choose to add more institutions)
*Premium partners have access to the additional tab:

Each tab is described in detail below. Click on each header as applicable.
Favourites (*Institution Lists)
*If you're a Premium partner, refer to How to Use Institution Lists.
The Favourites tab includes all institutions that have been added as "Favourites" from both the Your Employer's Institutions and the More Institutions on Handshake tab.
You may select any institution from the Favourites list to post a job, host an event or an on-campus interview, and register for and attend an event or fair.
Page filters
Use the filters on the left sidebar to refine your search results.
Basic employers have access to the following filters:
- Keyword search

- This defines how you can interact with the institution in Handshake. For example, if you do not have permission to post a job, you will not see that institution as an option to post to.
- Location

Handshake Open
- Students in the Handshake Open Network attend institutions who have not directly purchased and partnered with Handshake.

Removing institutions from Favourites
Remove a single institution
1. Click the grey button Remove to the far right of the institution name.
2. In the pop-up modal, confirm the action by clicking the red button Remove.
Remove multiple institutions
1. Check the box to the left of each institution name you'd like to remove.
2. Click the hyperlinked text "Remove Selected" in the upper-right corner of the table.
3. In the pop-up modal, confirm the action by clicking the red button Remove.
Your Employer's Institutions
The Your Employer's Institutions tab includes all the institutions that your company is approved to recruit at.
You can add institutions one at a time by clicking on Add To Favourites to the far right of the institution name, or you can add multiple institutions by selecting the checkbox to the left of each institution name, then clicking Add to Favourites in the upper-right corner of the table.
*If you're a Premium partner, you also have the option to add the institution(s) selected to a Institution List, or create a new list from the selected.
To add an institution(s) to a Institution List, select the checkbox to the left of each institution name, then click the hyperlinked text "Add to list".
To create a new list from the institution(s) selected, click More, then select New List from selected.

More Institutions on Handshake
The More Institutions on Handshake tab includes the institutions that your company has not yet posted a job for, institutions where your job was posted but is currently pending, and institutions that have declined either your company or job.
Page filters
Click the white button All filters to open the sidesheet, which will allow you to select the filters you want to apply to refine your search results.
Basic employers have access to the following filters:
- Keyword search

- Declined
- Available to post job
- Learn more about this status.
- Location
- Ranking
- Size
- Region

Post job
You can post a job to institutions with the approval status Available to post job. After selecting an institution from the table to post a job to and clicking the "Choose Job" button, you will be redirected to the Jobs page.
From there, you can either create a new job posting or select an active job posting to post to the institution. Learn how to How to Post a Job to Additional Institutions.

Other actions
View and add notes
From any tab on the Institution Network Management page, click on the name of the institution to access their profile and view and add notes.
To view or add a note, click the blue button View & Add Notes in the Actions section located to the left of the page.
To begin, enter your note in the Note field provided, then click the blue button Add Note.
- To share the note with your staff, click the blue button Share with Staff.
- To keep the note private, and only visible to you, select Personal Note from the Share with Staff dropdown.
Add a comment
To contact Career Services at any institution with a comment, click directly on their profile.
- If you're already connected with the institution, add your comment in the textbox in the sub-section Discussion in the Institution Approval section, then click the blue button Add Comment.
- If you're not yet connected, and you have a pending job at an institution, add your comment in the textbox in the sub-section Add Comment in the Job History section, then click the blue button Add Comment.
The institution will be notified and can reply if they wish. As long as your notifications are enabled, you will receive a notification if they respond. Explore your Default Notification Preferences (Employers).
View comment history
To view your comment history with a particular institution, click directly on their profile.

- If you click to view a institution's profile from the Your Employer's Institutions tab, comments will display in the sub-section Discussion in the Institution Approval section.

- If you click to view a institution's profile from the More Institutions on Handshake tab, comments will display in the sub-section Add Comment in the Job History section.
