There are several options for configuring payments in Handshake. Use this article to configure the payment option that works best for your institution.
Manual vs Card Payments
There are two options for taking payments from employers for fees charged. You can accept either manual or credit card payments.
Any payments made by employers to institutions through any method other than credit card (handled through any of the processing options outlined below) are considered "manual" payments. This includes cheques, money orders, wire transfers, or in-person credit card use.

Credit card payments
All card payments in Handshake are handled through the following external, third-party payments processors. This enables your institution to accept payments from employers and students online, without having store any credit card information.
If you allow credit card payments, employers will be able to click a button that says Pay Now, which will redirect them to the payment provider's page - upon successful payment, the status in Handshake will update to paid and they will receive a receipt via email.
Tip: if an employer is clicking Pay Now and nothing appears to happen, double-check that the browser doesn't have a pop-up blocker enabled!

If your institution is not already using either TouchNet or CASHnet, we highly recommend that you setup a Stripe account to process card payments (TouchNet and CashNet can have high first-time implementation fees). Stripe is an online transaction service that enables institutions using Handshake to accept payments online. If you’d like to learn more about Stripe, please visit their website.
Distributed Campuses & Payments
If your institution has distributed campuses, consider what system your institution uses for payments.
When using Stripe, you will not be able to setup payments per career centre.
CASHNet supports additional item codes to accommodate multiple career centres, and TouchNet supports multiple career centres as well, via adding a uPay URL and Site per career centre.
