Attending a Virtual Event via Handshake

There are three ways to access an event's registration page in Handshake:

• The Registration Confirmation Email
• The Events Search Page
• Automated Notifications in Handshake

Registration Confirmation Email

After registering for an event via Handshake, a registration confirmation email is sent to the email address on your Handshake account. This email includes a link to the event's details page.

Click on the event name, included in the first sentence of the email.  

Events Search Page

Click Events on the left navigation menu, then click on the calendar icon to access your registered events.

Click on the event you'd like to attend from the list on the right side of the page. 

Automated notifications in Handshake

Handshake provides two automated notifications in app and via email:

• The first is generated 24 hours before the event starts
• The second is generated 1 hour before the event starts.

Note: If you register within 24 hours of the event start time, you will only be sent the registration confirmation email and one notification, one hour prior to the event start time. If you register within an hour of the event start time, you'll be sent the same confirmation and reminder emails, however, the standard "one hour" notification email will be sent shortly after registration, so the "minutes till event start time" in the email will vary.

In App

To access the event via a notification in-app, click on your icon in the upper-right corner of the screen, then click Notifications from the dropdown.

All notifications will be listed on the page - click Events on the left menu bar to view event notifications only.

Click on the blue link provided in the notification to go directly to the event's detail page. 

Email

Click on the event name, included in the first sentence of the email to be directed to the event in Handshake. 

These event reminder notifications are enabled by default – if you'd like to change your notifications, refer to Managing Your Notification Preferences.

On the event's details page, click the blue button Join event to launch the event video. You'll be able to join the event up to 5 minutes prior to the scheduled start time and at any point through the scheduled event end time.
